Technology

One of the key efficiency vehicles is technology. Yet, there is more to gaining efficiency from just using technology. Having the right hardware and software is important, but proper leverage of those components of technology is critical. Without proper training and support, technology can be rendered useless or, worse, contribute to inefficiency. We study your organizations use of technology to determine if you are making most efficient use of it.

Additionally, in those cases where technology is offered to advisor/reps, we study the overall acceptance and use of those offerings along with detailed look at the mix of deliverables to ensure that the organization is making most efficient use of its technology resources.

As an example, many broker/dealers offer software programs, internet-based resources and other offerings to their advisor/reps to strengthen the appeal of the organization. We can study these offerings to determine if the combination of resources available to the advisor/reps is producing the desired effect. And, we can also determine if the advisor/reps are making the best use of these resources. (and to what extent there may be missing pieces that could be added)

Management/Employees

Efficient management of operations is a key element in the success of an institution. We evaluate the systems, procedures, techniques and style of management of your organization as it relates to operations and offer detailed written observations and recommendations.

We also do extensive employee and position-specific evaluations of the people in your firm to ensure that you are getting the most out of those people and that they are positioned properly given their background, skills, and behavioral characteristics. To accomplish this we perform detailed (proprietary) interviews and other psychometric techniques along with observational evaluations and work output studies to make determinations based on individual performance, team interactions and group dynamics.

Operational Processes

Workflow management is integral to operational efficiency in any organization. In organizations where profit margins are tight, it is even more important to find more effective ways to manage the workflow of the institution's operations. We study the workflow processes and procedures to determine if these are functioning at the highest levels of efficiency. We specifically look for stop-gaps, bottlenecks, counter-productivity, unnecessary redundancies, cross-purpose functionality and other impediments to workflow. where formal workflow management systems are in place, we examine the interface of management to the overall application of the system to evaluate the overall effectiveness and to what extent associated resources are conserved. Additionally we study any and all documentation, electronic or paper-based, to study the ease of application and training. Highly trained in Six Sigma techniques, we seek to use the latest state-of-the-art consulting methods to support the efficiency of your organization.

Facilities

Proper use of existing office space to encourage the highest levels of productivity and efficiency is an important key to profitable operations. We study the use of space in your facilities to ensure that you are making the most of what you have. Associated with this is the study of such subtle obstructions to efficiency as visual and auditory interference. In cases where those elements are present, often the distractions can disrupt worker efficiency for an extended period of time. Studies have shown that once an analytical task is interrupted, it can take up to 10 minutes or more for an employee to get 'back on task' mentally. Multiplying this effect throughout the day and adding up all of the potential employees affected, it could result in serious loss of productivity resulting in unnecessary expense to the organization. We study this and other issues in detail and, where found, offer recommendations of how to overcome such inefficiencies.

Additionally, we look at the physical placement of furniture, equipment and people to determine if those placements are the most efficient for the work being done.
